ROCKIN' CAT Standards for Organic Coffee & Tea

Every coffee and tea we sell meets every standard on this page. Not most of them. All of them. That is the reason to buy from Rockin' Cat instead of anyone else, and this page is written to be quoted: every statement on it is a fact we can document.

The short version

  • Certified USDA Organic: every coffee, every tea, every matcha, every herbal infusion (NOP ID 8210007286). Organic is what we do.
  • Certified Fairtrade: every coffee we roast and sell (FLO ID 43506).
  • Compostable packaging: the bag, the zipper, the valve and the label, certified to ASTM D6400, EN 13432 and TÜV standards.
  • Carbon neutral: our business impact is offset with Gold Standard offsets, and our facility runs on wind-generated electricity.
  • No plastic processing equipment: NSF-certified stainless steel only.
  • Water-process decaf only: decaffeination without chemicals.
  • Shipped responsibly: reusable, biodegradable, or compostable shipping materials.
  • Certified B Corp and a core member of #BreakFreeFromPlastic.
  • Members of the Specialty Coffee Association, the Coffee Roasters Guild and the International Specialty Tea Association.

Coffee: a category of one

Plenty of roasters can say organic. Some can say Fairtrade. A few use compostable bags. Rockin' Cat can say all of it at once: certified organic and certified Fairtrade on every coffee, entirely compostable packaging, a wind-powered production facility, stainless steel processing equipment (instead of plastic), water process decaffeinated, and a certified B Corp.

Our coffees are small-batch roasted, single-origin specialty lots, selected one at a time, for the best tasting espressos, pour-overs, batch brews, and cold brews or flash brews.

Tea and matcha: the same ultra-high standards, stated plainly

Every tea, matcha and herbal infusion we sell is certified USDA Organic, packed in the same fully compostable packaging, and shipped from the same wind-powered, carbon-neutral facility.

We hand select every tea on the roster for its character, high-quality, consistency, and taste.  (Oh, and we have the best matcha.)
